A Message from Pastor Patsy
As part of our February Fast, we are going to join other believers across Australia (via Zoom) to pray for our Nation.
Join us at RFC on Saturday 26th February in the Multi-Purpose Room to pray!
1.00pm to 2.30pm
Fasting is a tool!
It will help you make important life adjustments.
For example, it will help you adjust your affections - what it is that you place at the centre of your life.
It also helps you reorganise your priorities – the things that are most important in your life.
God knows exactly where you need to set your affection and what you need to prioritise in your life. His plan for you is for you benefit and for His glory!
Fasting shifts you from selfish introspection to godly circumspection; from externally influenced to Christ-centred purpose.
Use hunger/craving for the opportunity to focus on
a. what are you praying about
b. what you have a spiritual hunger for
c. what you’d like to have change or breakthrough in
d. God Himself and His love to you through Jesus Christ
Here are some important points about fasting to get the best results.
a. Fasting is not a religious obligation. Jesus said to make your fast between you and God. Ask Him what He would challenge you to give up during the fast and don’t expect others to do what you do.
b. Pray. Don’t just abstain from food or whatever it is you are laying aside. Spend extra time with God and His Word.
c. Fast in faith! What that means is, look and pray about the following verses of scripture about seeking God. Believe that as a result of this season of seeking God with fasting and prayer that you will be more aware of God in every area of life and that you will experience change.
Promises about seeking God
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
1 Corinthians 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
