Prayer for Israel & the Middle East

In these days there is so much happening, especially in Israel and the Middle East. We could get very caught up in the details of what's happening, but our seat of authority in Christ Jesus gives us the privilege of seeing World Events as God sees them. He sees the end from the beginning, so we pray the end right at the beginning.

How does God see things? We can see His promises in His Word and can take those promises to Him in prayer.

Here are some Bible promises God has given us. We can use them as a starting point to pray for Israel.

How to start Praying

Pray for wisdom, discernment for military and political leaders.

1 Chronicles 22:12

Only may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding as you are put in charge of Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

2 Chronicles 1:10

Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can rule this Your people who are so great?

Prov 2;10

10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,
12 To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things,
13 From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness.

"Father God, we pray for political and military leaders in Israel today. We ask you give them wisdom as they are put in charge of Israel, that they may follow your ways. Lord, give them wisdom to know how to go out and come in before their people and give them ability to rule with justice. We thank You for Your skillful and godly wisdom entering into their heart, and knowledge shall be pleasant to them. We thank you Lord for discretion watching over Israel’s leaders, and understanding keeping them, to deliver them from the way of evil and the evil men, from men who speak perverse things and are liars, men who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness, who rejoice to do evil and delight in the perverseness of evil, who are crooked in their ways, wayward and devious in their paths."

Proverbs 2:10-15 AMPC

Prayer for Salvations - A Great Harvest

Pray not only for those who are being held captive or facing death, but also for their enemies.

2 Peter 3:9 NKJV

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

1 Timothy 2 NLT

1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

“Father God, we thank you are not slack concerning Your promise. You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. So, we pray in accordance with Your will that there will be a great harvest of souls in this time. We ask for salvation for those who are facing death, for those who are in fear, for those who have lost friend and family, for those who have witnessed terrible atrocities and for those who are perpetrating those atrocities. You are not willing that any of them perish. We ask for labourers to bring the Gospel, for visions and dreams and angelic assistance – all for the purpose of salvation.”

Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem

The end of Jerusalem is that Jesus will be enthroned in that city. We pray towards the end and everything that is necessary for that end to be accomplished. Heavenly Jerusalem and Earthly Jerusalem will meet and be complete – nothing missing, nothing broken – Shalom!

Psalm 122:6

1 I was glad when they said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord!

2 Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!—

3 Jerusalem, which is built as a city that is compacted together—

4 To which the tribes go up, even the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed and as a testimony for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord.

5 For there the thrones of judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you [the Holy City]!

7 May peace be within your walls and prosperity within your palaces!

8 For my brethren and companions’ sake, I will now say, Peace be within you!

9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek, inquire for, and require your good.

“Father God, You instructed us to pray for the shalom peace of Jerusalem – nothing missing and nothing broken. To that end we give you thanks that Your desire for that city and the whole nation will be completed and it will be a city where Jesus will reign as King of Kings and will judge the nations. May peace be with the walls of Jerusalem, and may the will of God be carried to completion in that land.”
