Reversing Dishonour

Reversing Dishonour

Honour - value, esteem, dignity of the highest degree, precious reverence, respect

Timáō – properly assign value (give honor), as it reflects the personal esteem (value, preciousness) attached to it by the beholder.

One thing that separates and elevates humans above all other creatures - Honour

Psalms 8:4-5 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honour.” (NLT)

Crowned before merit. Not BECAUSE of it.

Rom 13:7 honour to whom honour is due.

Much about God honouring and rewarding people

Honour from merit - Jn 12:26, Rom 2:10, 2 Tim 2:20&21. Rom 13:2

Crowned to carry out a divine purpose and function

Roles that represent/image Him personality, nature.

Husbands

Ephesians 5:33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. (NLT)

Wives

I Peter 3:7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered. (NKJV)

Parents

Ephesians 6:2-3 Honour your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honour your father and mother, things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth. (NLT)

Mat 15:4&6

Kings / Governors

I Peter 2:17 “Honour all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” (NKJV)

Romans 13:4 The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. (NLT)

Romans 13:7 Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honour to those who are in authority. (NLT)

To carry out His justice

People in the Roles have actually misrepresented and DIS honoured God

Man fell from that place of honour by their own choosing

And choosing to crown themselves

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (NKJV)

Honour Yourself

John 8:54 Jesus answered, “If I honour Myself, My honour is nothing. It is My Father who honours Me, of whom you say that He is your God.” (NKJV)

John 7:18 Those who speak for themselves want glory only for themselves, but a person who seeks to honour the one who sent him speaks truth, not lies. (NLT)

Hamon - Esther 6

Look for Honour From People

John 5:41, 44 I do not receive honour from men. How can you believe, who receive honour from one another, and do not seek the honour that comes from the only God?” (NKJV)

God gives honour not only for merit but by grace

Rom 13:7 - due because they don't have

Jesus demonstrated how to do this

Sinners - Levi, Zachias, woman

Weaker people - lepers, blind, lame, touch, talking, healing

Children

Women - 1 Pt 3:7 - woman@ the well, infirmity, issue of blood, adult RY, receiving worship in…, 1st appearance,

God - not only is a position, but IS Honourable

Honour comes from Him

Highest Honour Comes From God

Hebrews 5:4-5 And no one can become a high priest simply because he wants such an honour. He must be called by God for this work, just as Aaron was. That is why Christ did not honour himself by assuming he could become High Priest. No, he was chosen by God, who said to him, “You are my Son. Today I have become your Father.”” (NLT)

2 Peter 1:17 when he received honour and glory from God the Father. The voice from the majestic glory of God said to him, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. (NLT)

Luke 3:22 and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.”” (NLT)
